Robin Thicke was due to perform in the country in April this year. For some unknown reason (the promoters didn’t issue any statement about it), the show was canned. Mzansi fans were happy to learn last month that their favourite blue eyed soul singer was eventually going to brace our shows, thanks to promoter Morris Rhoda. Less than a week before the tour kicked off and on the day he is due to arrive with fellow American crooner Howard Hewitt, it’s been revealed that the tour has been cancelled.
The two singers were going to serenade the ladies in Jo’burg on the 07th of August and then move down to Durban on Women’s Day, 09 August.
Below is what publicist of the tour Sibongile Khuzwayo of SBO Communications sent me about the cancellation:
Oh well, this is not the first time this has happened with gigs organised by Morris Rhoda. We’ve actually lost count of the no-shows where he was involved. This is really becoming tiresome. And, blaming low ticket sales when you haven’t done what you are ought to do – PROMOTE A SHOW – doesn’t cut it.
