Remember that Robin Thicke was billed to perform in the country in April? That didn’t materialise for some reason. The PR company or the sponsors didn’t even bother to let us know that the show was cancelled. Well, it seems th blue-eyed soul singer has been booked to perform in the country again, this time at the celebrations of the national Women’s Day holiday.
Robin Thicke is billed to perform in two shows, one in Jozi and the second in Durban. This should make Durbanites very happy because they always feel left out when international artists come to the country and not visit the beautiful city.

This is it! Robin Thicke and Howard Hewett are to treat SA women with great music on the National Women’s Day this year.Morris Roda Productions will host the 5th National Women’s Day extravaganza on the 7th and 9th August, by bringing international and local male on stage to serenade South African women at the National Women’s Day extravaganza. This year women will take the backsit and kick off their shoes and be taken care of by man.
All these international Superstars have touched the souls of many fans across the world over the years. Robin Thicke has got a whole wall’s worth of accolades to recommend him. He won three Grammys, he’s written and produced for Michael Jackson, Lil Wayne, Mary J Blige, Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Hudson. His breakthrough single, “Lost Without You,” and album, The Evolution of Robin Thicke, both joined the platinum club themselves. Howard Hewett first burst onto the scene as a lead singer of Shalamar successful post – disco group that topped the charts in both US and Britain, “The Lover in You “ co-downn by Hewett and reinterpreted in It’s Time was another major hit. What is more his original “Say Amen” earned the status of a modern gospel classic. And he recoded duets with Anita Baker, Dionne Warwick, Brenda Russell and Stacey Lattisaw.
This day commemorates 9 August 1956 when women participating in a national march petitioned against pass laws (legislation that required African persons to carry a document on them to ‘prove’ that they were allowed to enter a ‘white area’).
August National Women’s Day recognises the bravery of these women who risked arrest, detention and banning.
American Superstars Robin Thicke, Howard Hewett will hit the shores of SA to join South African men honour women on their special day. The international artists will be joining local male stars like Ringo, Ntando, Theo from Mafikizolo and Danny K at the concerts in Johannesburg and Durban.
On 7 August the male crooners will be performing in Johannesburg and on 9 August at Sahara Kingsmead stadium in Durban.
Morris Roda says “on the day women will be pampered and spoilt for the day by men so to show appreciation of what women are doing in South Africa. June and July has been a man’s month because of the World Cup, we had to go bigger this year to thank our women for the support they gave us over the last 4 years and celebrate Women’s day in style.”
