Last night Nu Metro held an exclusive premiere of the sequel to the film adaptation of the television series Sex And The City. The invite to this event was so unbelievably coveted, hordes of celebrities and media struggled to crack it. Even I received numerous enquiries from my YEAHBO fam who usually attend my exclusive screenings; wanting to know if I was doing the same for Sex And The City 2.
Hyde Park Mall was abuzz with Jozi‘s socialites who gathered to be the first to witness what promises to be a huge hit in the ladies night cinema experiences. Many dressed the part, but others were not bothered, especially the men; which is perfectly understandable because this is a cliche of all chick flicks. The Moet was flowing the whole evening, before the screening and after. See some of the peeps I spotted and snapped on the red carpet.

Vanessa Carreira wore an ensemble apt for a winter nigh out. Husband Chris Coutroulis did not complement her wife. At least he had a jacket on.
Terry was stunning in this black number, wearing it with a white pair of pumps laced with spike-studs. She completed the look with a turquoise leather clutch.

Tselane Tambo and Rosie Motene looked like they were off to some matric farewell. Or a wedding in Naija. And, how long has Tselane been back in Mzansi? She needs to get rid of that accent now.
Mpho Maboi looked simple in denim pants and white top, finishing it off with a leopard leather handburg. We need to see you more in dresses Ms Maboi, that dress you had on at Bonang’s website launch was rocking!

Melanie Ramjee decided to support Africa Day with this green and white number and Ninell Musson stuck with the trimming black.
Another Melanie (this time a Bala) chose this simple black number with frills on the chest, as well as black pumps.

Liezel Van Der Westuizen was for me the best dressed in her Gert creation. You can just see how much of a fan she is. She took her shoes off to do the signature jump durin the photo call. Love this lady for her spirit and kindness.
Lee-Anne Liebenberg also kept in simple with a black number that tugged to show her baby bump. Fiance Nicky Van Der Walt looked classy, yet casual in a denim pants, shirt and jacket.

Seeing that Khanyi Mbawu went all out, it would have been acceptable for Mr. Mbau to dress in a tux. Oh even if he had a jacket on top of the shirt and cardigan.
I love this lady! Maybe the height and the striking regal beauty has something to do with it. Or maybe because she is such a nice person (she was ultra cool when i met her at the Jozi premiere a few months ago). She looked stunning in this glamorous but understated ensemble.

Forgive me for not getting these ladies’ details. I posted this because of the lady in a black and white overcoat-dress. I was so fascinated that she made such an effort and actually pulled it off.
Gert-Johan Coetzee arrived with his boyfriend, “Frikkie”. I overheard him saying to the photographers they mustn’t use that name if they publish his pictures. Anyway, Gert really has a thing for polka dots. I don’t think I have ever seen him wearing a shirt that didn’t have them colourful balls.

The beautiful and ever-ravishing Farah Fortune looked hot in this sleeveless pink floral frock.
The reason I put Bridget’s surname in quotations is because she quickly hushed me when I announced that her surname was Khati. She told me keeping her maiden name has to do with business. She looked amazing anyway, also aptly dressed.

Zama Nkosi rocked up with her best friend (sorry can’t remember her name).
Ashley Hayden accessorized her black dress with this cream-ish fur jacket.
There were “oohs” and “aahs” and screams throughout the film, most of them I didn’t get. Perhaps because I’m only a guy. The film had its moments though. Kim Katrall is hilarious, she’s the funniest character in the film! Sex And The City 2 opens at cinemas this coming Friday, 28 May 2010.
