Durbanites, are you ready to celebrate your own? Many of South Africa’s internationally acclaimed, most powerful and instantly recognizable figures and a concert audience will pay their tributes to one of the world’s most loved singer and SAMA award winner, Busi Mhlongo.

Royalty, politicians and leading names from business, sport, film and entertainment – and some
of the most successful musicians of the past 50 years – make up the entertainment day of
celebrations, culminating in a three-hour evening concert in Durban’s Playhouse on Sunday May 30, The Behind The Legend Concert Honoring Busi Mhlongo “The Queen of Mbaqanga”.

It`s a celebration of her story and legacy, its a show case of an icon and most importantly its the
Queen of Mbaqanga!!!! A musical journey through Busi Mhlongo’s musical history.

Artists specially invited to perform for Ms. Mhlongo at the concert will include: Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Sibongile Khumalo, Judith Sephuma, Thandi Klassen, Abigail Kubeka, Sipho
“Hotstix” Mabuse, Selaelo Selota, Deborah Fraser, Thembsile Ntaka, Madala Kunene, Shabalala
Rhythm, Ringo Madlingozi, Thandiswa Mazwai, Zonke, Zamajobe, Camagwini & Nhlanhla
Nciza.

The concert will feature numerous unexpected appearances, with several major artists keeping
silent about their involvement in order to take both Ms. Mhlongo and the audience by surprise.

The concert has been made possible through the generosity of Ngwenyama Holdings, HRH Prince Makhosini “Omari” Dlamini, Ukhozi FM & The Playhouse Company.

There will be a press conference on Tuesday 25 May 2010 at the Bassline in Newtown. It will also be the second day of rehearsals. .
