.zaDNA reveals results of DOT ZA market survey
This morning I was invited by Dlamini Weil Communications to a breakfast at the Park Hyatt hotel in Rosebank where the ZA Domain Name Authority (.zaDNA) entity revealed the results from the market survey conducted in the past few months. This research was done to garner a much vivid understanding of how companies and domain holders feel about their domains. Now, for those that don’t understand what this is all about, some time last year I...

Bilal joins the already impressive Jazz Festival lineup

Bilal joins the already impressive Jazz Festival lineup
The fans who were looking forward to seeing G.U.R.U. and his Jazzmatazz band were dealt a low blow when the rapper/musician suffered cardiac arrest that led to him slipping into a comma. This obviously resulted in him being scrapped off the line-up for this years Cape town International Jazz Festival. But, the organisers have some brilliant news for you. Guess who’s replacing G.U..R.U.? Bilal OliverBilal, one of the world’s most well-respected...

To complement her look was decor that included hints...

Naledi Theatre Awards a classy and real affair

Naledi Theatre Awards a classy and real affair
Last night I attended the Naledi Theatre Awards at the Pretoria State Theatre, for the very first time since I’ve been involved in the entertainment industry. To say I was impressed with the standard of the awards is an understatement. Everything flowed so easily and you could pick up the passion, focus and dedication displayed by the organisers and all the parties involved. After arriving, I felt a bit bored for a little while. That easily...

Precious and The Hurt Locker make history

Precious and The Hurt Locker make history
Although Avatar was anticipated to dominate the Oscars last night, it was Cameroon’s ex-wife, Katherine Bigelow, who walked smiling form ear to ear as her directing stint on The Hurt Locker made history as the first time ever such a prize went to a female director. That wasn’t the only feat for the film and its crew. It also took the coveted Best Picture gong, as well as 4 other Oscars, including Best Writing for Mark Boal. Jeanie D and...

MTV Africa turns 5!

MTV Africa turns 5!
The MTV Networks operations in Africa turns 5 this year. To celebrate this milestone for the channel MTVBase they threw a mother of all parties, which I’ve just returned from. It was an invite-only affair that took place at Urban Tree in Kramerville. As we entered the venue, we were greeted with warm welcomes and advised of the self photo-booth to capture the memories of this moment. The venue was decked out with white decor complementing...

Zuluboy’s groundbreaking SAMA nod!

Zuluboy’s groundbreaking SAMA nod!
Zuluboy couldn’t contain his excitement about being nominated for the MTN Record of the Year prize. He has a good reason too. The KZN-born lad and Maftown’s HHP have both been nominated in the category that doesn’t usually feature any rappers. Many other Mzansi are ecstatic for their respective nods, whilst others aren’t so pleased for not being in the running. At the end of the day, they are all celebrating our own home-brewed...
